Thinking about being a waiter, receptionist, computer entry specialist, secretary or file clerk? Looking to box groceries, sell clothes, mow lawns, sell theater tickets or paint houses?

Why not challenge yourself? Why not contribute to the future of Judaism, have fun, and make an impact in a child’s life.

Since 1958, the URJ Goldman Union Camp Institute has provided both young and old the opportunity to learn and grow.

GUCI offers a fine balance between education and recreation. As a Jewish camp, GUCI seeks to enhance the experience of our campers and staff with the richness of Jewish faith and culture. The Camp places a strong emphasis on personal growth and positive self-image. For all who attend, camp is an unforgettable religious, cultural, and emotional experience.

GUCI takes a great deal of pride in its staff. The staff is comprised of college students, graduate students, and professionals in various fields. Staff members provide a stable and caring home for campers all summer long. A summer as a member of GUCI’s staff is a wonderful social and educational experience. Come learn and bond with 100 other dedicated and talented staff members.

Each year, we look for competent and energetic young adults to fill our staff positions. Previous experience isn't the key to success at GUCI: you are! Training is provided at the start of the summer season, and is ongoing throughout the summer. We seek to insure that staff members have as great a time as do our campers.

Counselors live in bunks with the campers. They have the most direct influence on their campers’ summer experiences. Counselors serve as responsible, mature and Jewish role models for their campers. The cabin group is most important. We do all we can to insure that our campers get the most out of it. The cabin group becomes the campers’ camp family. Great counselors are the key!

Specialists provide the bulk of the programming and activities that campers participate in during their daily camp experience. Specialists create Jewish educational programming, recreational activities, and arts programming (music, drama, crafts, creative writing, video, etc). Specialists offer campers the opportunity to develop new skills and talents. Such experiences are fun and important for building positive self esteem.

A summer season at camp lasts 9 weeks, including our staff training program.
